A service to honor the life of George H. Posey, Jr. will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday the 22nd at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
George started working with Valley Electric Company in 1975 and retired after 30 plus years. He started his own business after retirement Posey’s Trenching and Electrical. When you seen his scruffy beard you did not know what to expect. However underneath this wild man’s look was one of the kindest, most generous, and caring men you would ever meet. The disguise was a farmer, gardener, plumber, electrician, carpenter, mechanic, & so many other talents that he would confuse his self. He was the jack of all trades. If he told you that he was going to do something you could bet your sweet backside it was gonna happen. He was quick tempered to say the least yet he was so soft hearted. George was not cut from the same cloth as most. He was such a hard worker.
He loved God and loved his family. He was a proud Bailey Heights Hoodlum. He also has many sayings that only his friends would understand. For instance he would always say something about a giraffe and something about an Eskimo.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 46 years, Jan Posey, his mother Betty Posey, brother Karl Graves and wife Karen of Huttig, Arkansas. His three daughters Brandy Merriman and husband Tim of Leeaville La, Amanda Jones & Husband Bubba Jones of Many La, & Emily Posey and Fiancé Shane Burr of Natchitoches La. Seven grandchildren, Skyler Merriman, Trey Jones, Trip Merriman, Noah Jones, Alexis Merriman, Bentley and Bailey Posey and one great grandchild Kutter Jones.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his Bailey Heights Crew Shelby Borders, Jessie Rachal, & Johnny Lewis, his son in laws Tim Merriman, Bubba Jones, & Shane Burr.
He was preceded in death by his daddy George Posey Sr., brother Stephen Posey, & his special brother by another mother Jimmy Kelly.
