LTC (Ret) George Edward Powers 85, of Pittsburg, KS met his Lord and Savior Jesus 7:00am Saturday January 17, 2026 at the National Healthcare Rehab Center in Joplin, MO after battling Parkinsons for over 10 years. George was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as an Airborne Ranger in Vietnam for 3 tours totaling 30 months. He retired from military service in 1986 as a lieutenant colonel. March 24th, 1962 he married Patricia Rae and they welcomed 4 children, Tammy, Timothy, Thomas and Travis. On June 1, 1986 George married Susan Kay Paxton at the Living Water Ranch in Olsburg, KS; she survives at the home. Susan's children Stacea, Jason, Andy and Rachael gained a bonus dad that day and later, the family welcomed Paxton to the family.
