George Brent Raynor, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Born on April 17, 1940, Brent was a kind man with a giving heart. He loved the Lord and lived his life giving glory to Him.
Brent was a jack of all trades, he held certifications ranging from CNA, and barber, to cable technology. He has worked in the prison system, hospitals, and Berk-Tek. He was well-known for his successful retirement job doing small engine repairs in his backyard for a small fee. This was his way of giving back to the community. He took joy in giving neighbors and friends vegetables and pecans that he had processed in return for their many kindnesses.
He enjoyed fishing, both salt water and fresh water. Some of his favorite spots to fish were at Atlantic Beach and Southport. Music was a significant part of Brent's life. He was a huge fan of shag dancing, and greatly enjoyed attending the Sugarfoot Shag Club and loved its members. Brent had a good sense of humor and enjoyed picking good-naturedly on others as well as coming up with jokes to entertain others. He also loved good food, and greatly enjoyed a Jersey Mike's Philly Cheesesteak and Brightleaf hotdogs.
He loved and was loved greatly by his precious furbaby, Duchess.
Brent will be remembered for always having strong ties with his family and God. He would listen to and enjoy the sermons of Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, and Hagel. He read his Bible faithfully, and always had a stack of them by his chair.
He spent 28 years caring for his beloved mother and took wonderful care of her until her passing. He loved his mother and would do anything for her.
Brent was preceded in death by his mother and father, Eldon Raynor and Zannie Raynor, and his brother Robert "Bob" Raynor. Remaining to cherish his memories are his loving sisters Ruth Wood, Carolyn Danner, and Jewell Bullard. He is also loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to share their appreciation for the loving, compassionate, and excellent care given to Brent by the Critical Care Teams of Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at West & Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove. The Service to celebrate Brent's life will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Charles David & Tommy Honeycutt officiating. Following the funeral, Brent will be laid to rest at Seven Mile Cemetery in Newton Grove, NC.
