James Raynor

James Steadmon Raynor, 74 of Woodbridge, VA passed away on August 8, 2025. James was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on August 31, 1950, to parents Steadman and Julia Raynor. James attended New Hanover High School graduating in 1968. On February 6th 1970 he married his Bride, Yvonne Diane Bridges.

Graduated from St. Leo University in 1978 with a BA in Business Management and in 1988 from Oklahoma City University with an MBA. Air Force education included graduating from the Air Force Squadron Officers School in 1980 and the Air Force Air Command and Staff College in 1987. Retired Air Force Major, proudly serving 25 years-----11 enlisted and 14 as an officer serving as an air traffic controller and communications officer.

James' assignments in the military included, Chief, Air Traffic Control Operations at KI Sawyer AFB in Michigan, Air Force Satellite Communications at Tinker AFB, OK, Chief, Strategic Communications at the National Military Command Center (Pentagon), and Air Force Liaison/Product Lead, Communications Backbone (Pentagon) during the initial years of the Pentagon Renovation. Retired and worked in information technology for 13 years for the Department of Defense supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), retiring in 2011. Positions at MDA included Chief, Information Technology Engineering and Deputy Chief Information Officer.

James is preceded in death by his parents Steadman & Julia Raynor, Howard & Betty Bridges, and sisters, JoAnn Wroten, Edna Ruth Aycock.

James is survived by his wife, Yvonne Diane Raynor, two sons, James Louis Raynor, wife Sonia of Hutto, Texas, Justin Howard Raynor, wife, Leslie of Stafford, Virginia. A proud "Papa" to four beautiful grandchildren, Evan, Chase, Zach, and Addyson.

He loved being a husband, father, and Papa, enjoyed time at the ballpark with his wife and sons, coaching/umpiring, spending time with and spoiling the grandchildren, and watching his sons grow into fine men.
