George Eugene Schrantz, 85, of West Pittsburg passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at UPMC - Jameson Hospital following a short illness.
Born July 25, 1940, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Bernice McConnell Schrantz. He was married to Darlene L. Boughter Schrantz for 52 years when she passed away on February 6, 2021.
George graduated from New Castle High School in 1958 and then served in the Navy until his honorable discharge. A machine operator by trade, he worked at B&W and the Ellwood City Forge. An avid car enthusiast, he enjoyed anything car related, from maintaining a race car, racing, going to car shows, and watching NASCAR. He also really enjoyed bowling. His most cherished moments were times spent with his family.
Survivors include daughter, Darla (Bob) Terpilowski of Shenango Twp; son, Edward G. (Crissa) Schrantz of Ellwood City; two sisters, Susan Stoner of New Castle and Cindy (Steve) Fobes of Volant; five grandchildren, Felicia (Jacob) Ramirez, Melinda (Luke) Grimm, Holton (Fiancee Autumn Groves) Schrantz, Kurtis Schrantz, and Bobby Terpilowski Jr.; two great-grandsons, Coby Ramirez and Waylon Grimm, and two great-granddaughters, Oakley Grimm and Lyna Ramirez.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Chase Schrantz and two sisters, Patricia Jean Kent and Elizabeth Schrantz in infancy.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday February 5, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday February 6, 2026, at 11 am with Pastor John Coomber of Grace Bible Church officiating. Military rites will be observed by the Veteran's Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
