George H. Senderling Jr.

George H. Senderling, Jr, "Buster" 100, of Scranton, PA formerly of Holmesburg, Philadelphia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Gino Merli Veteran's Center, Scranton, PA.
He was the loving husband of the late Janet (Baldus) Senderling for 48 years. George was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late George H. Senderling Sr. and the late Evelyn (Giberson) Senderling.
George graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia, class of 1940. He joined the US Navy in 1942 achieving the rank of Chief Electrician on the USS Chincoteague, which served in the battle of Midway. He was a lifetime member of both the U.S. Naval Reserves and the Fleet Reserve Association of the Navy.
George was a service man for Thomas M. O'Brien, Clymer Brothers Appliances and Furniture, as a salesman and repairman and lastly, he retired in 1987 from Audio Visual Center, all in Philadelphia.
George was a member of the following associations: a 32degree mason of the Free and Accepted Mason, Joseph H. Brown Lodge #751, Holmesburg, PA, and Shiloh-MacCalla Lodge # 558, Souderton, PA. American Legion, Post 204, Philadelphia, Moose Lodge, #585, North Wildwood, NJ, a Scout Leader in Philadelphia, Troop #75 and Troop #461 in Souderton. Also served as a Boy Scout Commissioner and served in Scouting for over 80 years. George proudly achieved Eagle Scout rank, which is the highest rank.
He was the oldest member of the Holmesburg Baptist Church until he went to be with his Heavenly Father. George achieved pastoral status and had the honor of performing marriage ceremonies for many of his grandchildren.
George is survived by his two daughters Linda G. Long & husband James, Sr of Churchville, PA, and Brenda J. Pisch & husband Charles of Coatesville, PA and his son, George H. Senderling, III & wife Kathy of Philadelphia, PA. 7 grandchildren, James Jr, Christopher, Cynthia, Brandon, Jannette, George IV and Tracy. 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Shannon, Christian, Alyssa, Emily, Benjamin, Christopher, Breana, Brandon, Ava Lee and Hannah and his sister, E. Phyllis Gambill of Lady Lakes, FL.
In addition to his wife, Janet V. Senderling, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Clymer.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, Pa 18964 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem, PA
