George "Butch" Sirovy Jr., 78, of Oskaloosa died peacefully in the care of North Mahaska Specialty Care on Monday, October 27, 2025. George was born on October 5, 1947, the son of George J. and Lorraine M. (Luzadder) Sirovy, in Cook County, Illinois. He attended school in Oskaloosa and graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1965.
George enlisted in the US Army and served overseas in Seoul, South Korea where he met his late wife, Kim Pun Su. To their union came a daughter, Rita. Following years of service, George returned home and drove truck in multiple capacities.
He later attended the Iowa Police Academy in Des Moines, leading to a Career in Law Enforcement serving as a Police Officer of the Eddyville Police Department, Police Chief of the Melcher-Dallas Police Department, and Police Officer of the Adel Police Department.
The best years of his life were spent working as a Plant Manager of Ideal Ready Mix in Pella, then later transitioning to the Oskaloosa Plant until Retirement. He spent most of his retirement doing what he loved the most, spending time with family, fishing and camping.
George is survived by his daughter, Rita (Serge) Marchale of Pedasi, Los Santos, Panama, a brother Edward (Kimberly) Sirovy Sr. of Oskaloosa, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandsons, great grandchildren and friends.
George is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Patricia Kirk and Darlene Wright; five brothers, Johnny, James, Robert, Charles, and Ronald Sirovy; and an infant daughter, Tammie Sirovy.
Funeral Servies will be held Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jon Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the Old White Cemetery in Oskaloosa, with Military Honors. Visitation with family will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 p.m. with services following. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Dementia Society of America.
