George Nelson Spitzer

George Nelson Spitzer, 92, of Broadway, VA passed away March 11, 2026 at his residence.

He was born March 18, 1933 in Rockingham County, to the late Ira Casper and Mary Driver Spitzer.

George was a farmer. He had worked as an assembler at Dunham Bush for 25 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid trophy hunter.

In 1967 he married the former Hilda Moyer, who survives.

George is also survived by his brother, Ira Clay Spitzer and wife Janice of Timberville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His brother Robert Lewis Spitzer preceded him in death.

Pastor Jerry Shiflet will conduct a funeral service Monday at 2:00 PM at Linville Creek Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow in the Linville Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7PM at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
