George W. Steiner, Jr., a man of courage, resourcefulness, and profound love for his family, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, in Voorhees, NJ. Born on January 28, 1948, in Richmond, VA, George lived a life marked by dedication to his country, his work, and most importantly, his loved ones.
George proudly served his nation as a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran, embodying the bravery and spirit of the Corps. After his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as a tractor-trailer driver for UPS in Lawnside, NJ, where he remained a loyal employee until his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a steadfast and reliable presence, a man who could always be counted on to get the job done.
Despite his stern exterior as a father, George's heart was tender when it came to his daughters, Marcell J. Steiner and Andrea J. Steiner. He instilled in them the values of hard work and perseverance, raising two fearless women who carry his legacy forward. His grandson, Thomas J. Bojanowski, brought immense joy to his later years, and George cherished every moment spent with him.
George was the beloved son of the late Beulah J. Steiner (nee Rae) and a supportive brother to Arthur Steiner (Arlene) and Richard Steiner (the late Lena). His extended family, including several nieces and nephews, will remember him as the uncle who could fix anything, the one who was always ready with a tool in hand and a solution at the ready. While not biological, he held his additional grandchildren near and dear to his heart.
George was known for his handy nature and his interesting personality. He was the man behind the camera at family gatherings, quietly capturing memories that would last a lifetime. His adventurous spirit shone through in his love for yard sales, where he was a true picker, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and the next great find.
George's life was one of meaningful connections and simple pleasures. He was a strict but great dad, the kind who made sure you finished all the food on your plate, but also the kind who would sit with you until the last bite. His courage was not only evident on the battlefield but also in his everyday life, where he was never afraid to tackle a challenge, whether it was a broken appliance or a difficult life situation.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire courage, resourcefulness, and love for family. George W. Steiner, Jr. will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where military honors and a family eulogy will begin at 11:30 AM.
