George Hiram Stowe Jr.
Age 76, of Elmira, NY. He was born April 25, 1949, in Elmira, son of the late George Hiram Stowe Sr. and Etta (Lockett) Stowe (James Washington). He passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at his home. He was predeceased by his son George Anthony Stowe and his brother Jack Stowe. George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lauretta (Blandford) Stowe; his beloved children, Kenneth Stowe, Gregg (Shawn) Stowe, Katrina (Tashi) Tillman, and Aaron (Allyson) Stowe; his adored grandchildren, Alyssa Stowe, Quianah Stowe, Remel Stowe, Makennah Stowe, Nadia Tillman, Aidan Tillman, Jada Stowe, Amirah Stowe, Mia Tillman, and Aaron Stowe Jr. George also leaves his siblings to mourn, Patricia Riveria, Margaret (Peggy) Magar, Carolyn (Robert) Malone, Cheryl (Charles) Loucks; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. George loved talking about politics, religion, and sports. He enjoyed reading and studying scripture. He was an avid sports fan, and his favorite sports teams were the New York Yankees and the New York Giants and Brooklyn Nets. You could often find George at Wegmans grocery where he would spend time playing his numbers and talking to the locals. He loved God, family, and astrology. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. His funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Pastor Doris Washington will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira.
