George Tietze, age 91, died Saturday, April 1, 2023 at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens. He was born in Detroit on September 1, 1931, son of the late George and Clara Tietze (nee: Himmler).
In his spare time, George enjoyed a good drink and was a passionate worker as a pharmacist. He felt it an absolute honor to serve his country in the United States Army. Over the course of his life, he had a special devotion to his mother Clara and was always present whenever she needed his help with anything. He was very religious and his unwavering Lutheran faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior was the moral compass that he followed throughout his entire life. It was the guiding star that guided him through good and bad times alike throughout his 91 years of life.
George is survived by his loving nieces and nephews Sue Grenke, Dawn Fletcher, David Fletcher, and Dewey Nadeau. He is the dearest great-uncle to Amy Moss and Adam (Heather) Fletcher and the great-great uncle to Joseph Moss, James Moss, Aubrey Fletcher, and Talia Fletcher. He is pre-deceased by his parents George and Clara, and his siblings Robert Tietze, Ellen (David) Fletcher, and Ray Nadeau.
Visitation for George will take place Friday, April 7 from 4:00-8:00pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Grosse Pointe Park, with a Scripture Service starting at 7:00pm. Share memories with the family at Verheyden.org
