George Dennis Tinley, 72, entered into rest Friday, November 1, 2024. He was born in Waynesboro to the late George David and Jeanette Tinley and has been a lifelong resident of Burke County. He was a 1982 graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served at various churches throughout the CSRA, including several years at McDonald Baptist Church in Sylvania. George had an evangelistic heart and had a desire to start his own ministry. He had a green thumb and loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing golf and watching Nascar, the Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a daughter, Misty Nicole Tinley; and a sister, Patricia Tinley.
He is survived by three sons, Jeremy Tinley (Olivia) of Waynesboro, Josh Tinley of Waynesboro, and Robert Tinley of Saybrook, CT; four grandchildren, Jeremy Tinley, Jr. of Waynesboro, Kayla Tinley of Waynesboro, Cody Lee Tinley of Chesterfield, SC, and Autumn Tinley of Saybrook, CT; a sister, Shirley Simpson of Beech Island, SC; a brother, Craig Tinley of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, November 7 at the funeral home.
Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a ministry of one's choice.
