George G Tornroth, 77, of Jersey City, NJ passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2024 with his family lovingly by his side. George was born on December 23, 1946 to Hannah and George Tornroth of Clark, NJ. He graduated from Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, NJ and went on to trade school from there.
George had a passion for work and refused to retire. He loved his career as a Tool and Die Maker which he dedicated his life to right up until 3 months before his passing. He spent many years working for General Motors and Hyatt Roller Bearing Company in Clark, NJ. He spent his last 14 years with Marine Electric in South Hackensack, NJ. where he made great friends.
In addition to his career, his other passion was providing inspiration and support to those going through the journey of recovery from addiction, being a recovering addict for over 20 years himself. He was a great story of success giving hope, transportation, job assistance, and a listening ear to anyone struggling with their own journey.
He was married to Barbara "Bobbi" Tornroth for six years and shared in raising 3 children with her.
He was funny, witty, sarcastic, and always had a big smile on his face. His loud laugh and humor will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him as well as by those who even met him for a day. He looked forward to spending his weekends relaxing down the shore in LBI. He loved music, NPR Radio, PBS, the History Channel, Bar Rescue and any and all crime dramas. Everyone who knew George knew him as an extremely kind, loving, gentle and selfless soul. He would secretly send thoughtful and surprise gifts out of the blue when he saw something he knew someone would love or needed. He always treated everyone he loved as his own blood and family and was known to all as "Pop" or "Papa George". Most days he could be found "hanging out" at the Broadway Diner in Bayonne, NJ where he was very well known and could undoubtably be seen reading his New York Times from front to back.
He is survived by his daughters Lisa Doerflein and Kelly A Beirne, his son George Tornroth, his grandson John Beirne, his granddaughter Shayna Albertson, and his great-granddaughter Margo June Albertson. He will forever be in their hearts and missed very much everyday.
George was preceded in death by his parents Hannah and George Tornroth and his sister Carol.

George would always greet me with a smile. Always smiling. Loved when he shared his stories . At the end of the work day I would hear him say goodnight. At the end of the workday on Friday, he would talk about his weekend plans, whether going down the shore or hanging at home. A true gentleman! I will miss you, George. May you rest peacefully in heaven
