George Tsempales Obituary

George Tsempales, 89, of Arlington, Virginia died peacefully and prayerfully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 while receiving Hospice Care at the Gardens of Wyoming Valley in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
George was born in Wilkes-Barre on February 2, 1934 and was the son of the late Gus Konstantinou Tsempales and Mary Valent Tsempales, brother of the late John Tsempales, and late sister, Irene Tsempales.
George had a long and distinguished career with several federal agencies of the United States Government including the Justice Department, Immigration Service and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). He retired as Assistant Director, Personnel Division of the Economics, Statistics and Cooperatives Service in the Economics, Policy, Analysis and Budget Division of the United States Department of Agriculture. Over the course of his career, George received numerous commendations and awards for exemplary dedication and service.
He and his wife Roberta nee Hartman Tsempales were married on December 7, 1958. The couple relocated to the Washington DC area and were active members of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, Virginia and supporters of multiple faith-based and civic organizations. The private funeral will be at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre with Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
