It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George M. Turkovic, on January 24, 2025, age 68, of Cook Township, formerly of Port Vue, a free spirit, a kind soul, and a man who embraced the simplicity of life. Born on August 6, 1956, in McKeesport, PA, George was the son of the late George and Mary (Spudich) Turkovic of Port Vue, and husband of the late Marla Andrews Turkovic.
George leaves behind a family who loved him, including his son Tony (Holly) Turkovic of Port Vue; four legged fur kids Scruffy and Meelo, his sister Rosemary Long of Hershey; his brother Thomas Turkovic of Port Vue; close cousins Eugene Horniscar, Dave Horniscar, and Susan Ferraro, along with his beloved nieces and nephews: Georgie (Tyler) Harner, Thomas (Erica) Turkovic, Joseph (Nina) Long, Victoria Turkovic, and Travis (Amanda) Turkovic, and several great nieces and nephews, and countless friends and family.
George lived life his way-full of good times and kindness. He loved nothing more than sitting on his patio by the stream, fire pit blazing, classic rock playing in the background, and a cold drink in hand while casting a line. His heart belonged to the outdoors, and the First Day of Trout was his own personal holiday-a sacred tradition he never missed.
George's home was a haven for anyone needing to slow down and soak up life's simple pleasures. Whether you were there for a patio party, a night by the fire, or just to talk about where the fish are biting, George made you feel welcome. His door was always open, and his laid-back hospitality was legendary.
George had a love for old westerns. He and his Dad always watched them together, and anytime you walked into George's living room, that's what was on the TV. He embodied the spirit of the 70s-carefree, genuine, and unapologetically himself. He could find joy in the little things, from the sound of the stream flowing past his backyard to the company of friends and family. Those who know George, will always have a good George story to tell.
George's light may have gone out too soon, but his spirit will live on in every cast of a fishing line, every crackling fire pit, and every classic rock song echoing in the breeze.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com. In lieu of flowers, cast a line, play some rock 'n' roll, and enjoy a moment of peace in his memory.
Rest easy, George. The stream's all yours now. To send flowers to the family of George, please visit our floral store.

My deepest sympathies go out to George´s family especially Tony, who I met only once when he was a small kid, we fed the ducks at Round Hill Park and Tom his brother. George was my first love and there´s nothing like that. He had a big heart was kind funny and a lot of fun to be with. I´ll always think of him with great fondness and love. Becky CLYMIRE Endres
