George Alexander Virtue, age 86, passed into eternal life on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at home with his loving family at his side. He was born and brought up in Eccles, Lancaster, as the son of Alexander Darling and Louisa Dixon (née Lightfoot) Virtue. In 1980, he moved to Houston, Texas, and has resided in Flemington, New Jersey, for the past 38 years. George completed his education at Eccles Grammar School located in Eccles, Manchester, before pursuing and obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of Salford, located in Manchester. George worked as a chemical engineer at Linde, located in Murray Hill, New Jersey, and after many years of dedicated employment, he concluded his professional journey with retirement. George had a keen interest in the history of World War II, particularly in Spitfires. He took pleasure in viewing television programs that focused on World War II history, Winston Churchill, and, in his later years, anything pertaining to the Royal Family. He took pride in his heritage. During his youth, he was part of a cycling club where he enjoyed racing across the countryside of the United Kingdom, where he was a competitive racer. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his two siblings, Alan Virtue and June Leech. George is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia Anne (née Hague) Virtue, with whom he joined hands in marriage on June 17, 1961; three loving children, Mark Hague Virtue of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Sacha Ann and her husband Joseph Daugherty of Voorhees, New Jersey, and Paul Russell Hague Virtue of Flemington; dear sister-in-law, Norah Virtue; four cherished grandchildren, Ryan Daugherty, Elise and her husband Steven Buzby, Danny Daugherty and Taylor Dodge, and Ryan Graham; two adored great grandchildren, Aiden Buzby and Arwen Daugherty; treasured niece, Emma Jane; and additional dear nieces, nephews, and cousins, all who loved him dearly. Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, PO Box 431, Three Bridges, NJ 08887.
