JACKSONVILLE - George Eddie Waller, affectionately known as Eddie, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2025, at Kempton of Jacksonville, N.C. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with Pastor Kenny Chinn officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Retired GySgt with the USMC was born December 4, 1934, in Johnson County, Georgia to the late George and Louise Smith Waller. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife; Virginia Roberson Waller, his sister; Annette Larimore and brother-in-law, Don White.
Survivors include his sons, Anthony E. (Tony) Waller (Delores) of Castle Hayne, NC, Timothy R. Waller (Julie) of Valdosta, GA; grandsons, Courtney Waller, Ethan Waller and Ryan Waller; granddaughter, Nicole Waller; great-grandkids, Bianca Solis, Emersyn Waller, Harper Waller, Huxley Waller and Oliver Waller; sisters, Jackie White of Statesboro, GA and Glenda Sauerhoefer (Richard) of Sandersville, GA.
While servicing 3 tours of duty in Vietnam he received a Purple Heart, Air Medal with 7 stars, Good Conduct Medal with 5 stars, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with 1 star, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal 1960, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame, and Combat Aircrew Wings Insignia with 3 stars. George retired from the USMC in 1973 as an Advanced Helicopter Mechanic. He started a new career working at Moore Buick Pontiac as a Front-End Mechanic, retiring in 1997.
The family would like to thank Hospice and all the caregivers at Kempton of Jacksonville, especially Ms. Heather and Ms. Lay who went above and beyond to care for our dad.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00 PMto 1:00 PM.
