George A. Wesson, born January 24, 1943, passed away on September 13, 2024, in Wilmington, NC at the age of 81.
George served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years, including 2 tours in Vietnam, and retired with the rank of First Sergeant. Following his distinguished military career, he continued to serve his community by serving at the Wrightsville Beach Police Department, where he retired as Sergeant.
He was a proud Master Mason and was a member for over 50 years of Port Royal Lodge # 242 A.F & M. in Port Royal, SC reflecting his commitment to fraternity and service.
George is survived by his son, Chuck Wesson, and his wife Rebecca of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter McKenzie; brother Archie Wesson; and sister Sarah Wesson. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Wilmington Funeral Chapel led by Life Celebrant Linda Register. The burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the US Marine Corps Honor Guard.

George took me to my first NASCAR race, it was one of the greatest moments of my life. To be able to enjoy something like that with someone I loved, a true friend. You will truly be missed.
