MIDDLEBURY, CT
GEORGE ZIKOS
"Beloved Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather "
Mr. George Zikos, who recently celebrated his 108th birthday passed away peacefully at Complete Care of Middlebury on Monday, July 15, 2024. He was the widower of Calliope (Zaraboukas) Zikos.
George was born in Korifi, Greece on June 22, 1916 son of the late Christos and Calino (Samarinidis) Zikos. He immigrated to the United States to Wrightstown, NJ in 1955 and then Morristown NJ where he became a tailor from skills he learned in Greece and opened his own tailor shop George's Tailor Shop which he ran successfully until his retirement in 1989 when he settled to Middlebury. He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Waterbury, and a member of AHEPA Society. He was an avid walker which contributed to his longevity.
George leaves to honor and cherish his children; Efterpy Velezis of Middlebury with whom he made his home, Christos Zikos of Van Nuys, CA, and Garifalia Rallis of Greece; four grandsons, Arthur N. Velezis and his wife Teri of Watertown, George N. Velezis of Middlebury, Vasilios Rallis and his wife Vasilia and George Rallis and his wife Maria all of Greece; and two great granddaughters, Lianna and Christina Rallis of Greece. He was predeceased by his two sons-in-law, Nicholas A. Velezis and Leandros Rallis.
Arrangements: Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 937 Chase Parkway. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at Church. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with the services.
