GEORGENE AVGERIS

Georgene Avgeris nee Maniatis, fell asleep in our Lord on September 5, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Georgios Avgeris. Loving mother of Evangelos (Christina) Avgeris and Constantinos (Carly) Avgeris. Proud Yiayia of Ari, Sawyer, Rosalie, Leo, Eva, Sofia, and Georgios. Dear sister of Dean Maniatis and Dimitri Kavathas and sister-in-law of Adonia Avgeris Theodropoulou and the late Zoi Avgeris Lavda. Cherished daughter of Dino and the late Penne Kavathas and daughter-in-law of the late Evangelos and Georgia Avgeris. Dear thea, cousin, and friend to many who will miss her.

Georgene's light shined the brightest when she was surrounded by her family. She spent over 40 years married to the love of her life and best friend, George, who was waiting for her at Heaven's gates, alongside her mother. On the rainiest days, their love will continue to shine down on us through the clouds. Known by many titles, her favorite role was being Yiayia to her seven grandkids whom she loved more than life itself.

In keeping with her love of family and her servitude to others, she was the proud business owner of Uptown Café for 33 years where she worked side by side with her father and brother. She delighted in truly getting to know her customers and watching their families grow over the years. It was here she was known for her hospitality, her warm heart, and always a giving hand. Georgene was a true staple of the Arlington Heights community.

Georgene spent her years dancing through life, vacationing in Greece, and spending time with her countless friends who were so dear to her heart. She will be missed, greatly, but we are at peace knowing she will be watching over us all.

Friends and family will meet Wednesday, September 7, at 10AM for visitation with funeral service to follow at 11AM at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, Palatine, IL. Interment St. Michael the Archangel, Palatine, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Georgene's name to Toys for Tots would be appreciated.
