Georgene M. Erickson

Georgene M. Erickson, 101, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away on October 27, 2025 at Knox County Nursing Home.
Georgene M. Erickson was born on February 22, 1924 to Hartwick and Cecile (Lindsey) Olson on a farm near Rio, Illinois. She grew up on the Rio farm where she regularly assisted her father with chores. Georgene graduated from Galesburg High School. She married Clarence F. Erickson on July 20, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg.
When her father and mother moved to a farm near Avon, IL Clarence & Georgene moved with him & she continued to assist her father while also working as a secretary for grain banks and elevators in Avon. Georgene & Clarence owned and ran the Kopper Kettle restaurant in Ellisville. In retirement she volunteered at the Knox County Nursing Home and operated their gift shop.
She loved travel, playing cards, golf, and conversation. In addition, she would annually make large amounts of candy at Christmas time. She had regular customers and also gave away much to friends and family. She also had a passion for sewing and beading. Georgene would sell her crafts, jewelry, and stitching creations at local nursing homes, flea markets, and the Spoon River Scenic Drive Knoxville location.
She is survived by her son, Ronald H. Erickson of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence F. Erickson, and her parents.
Cremation rights have been accorded. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory will be assisting the family with their wishes.
