Georgette O'Reilly, beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, in Nesconset, New York. Born on October 6, 1942, in Hoboken, New Jersey, Georgette lived a life devoted to her family. Her career as a phlebotomist at Stony Brook University Hospital was marked by her commitment to providing compassionate care and support to her patients.
Georgette's legacy is carried on by her family: her sons Peter Murro and his wife Lynn, Daniel Murro, Anthony Murro, Joseph Murro, Sean O’Reilly; her daughters Lorraine Murro, Adrienne Holtzman and her husband Joe, and Jeannine Woods and her husband Eric. Adoring grandmother of fourteen and great-grandmother of four.
Each of her children and their families will cherish the memories of her unwavering love and support throughout their lives. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Murro and Joseph O'Reilly, and her daughter Alison, and her sister Lorraine Sommerhalter, and her parents George and Marie. Their memories remain a cherished part of her story, and they, too, are remembered for the love they shared.
A visitation will be held at Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY, on November 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A prayer service will take place that afternoon starting at 3:00 PM, with a Hibernian's service following the prayers at 3:30PM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations for the Alzheimer’s and dementia foundation of Long Island.
Georgette O'Reilly touched many lives with her kindness and dedication. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, a loyal friend, and a compassionate caregiver. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
