James O'Reilly Obituary

James M. O'Reilly, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. He was born November 25, 1934, in Dayton Ohio to Michael Willam and Viola (Requarth) O'Reilly. He was a 1952 graduate of Chaminade High School and 1956 graduate of the University of Dayton. In 1960 he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with his PhD in chemistry. He married Marlene A. O'Reilly (Loy) on February 28, 1954. He was predeceased by his parents Michael Willam and Viola F. O'Reilly, brother Richard Patrick O'Reilly, and son Christopher D. O'Reilly.

He is survived by sons; James M. Jr. (Mary) of Wittman, AZ, Patrick R. (Debi) of Export, PA, Kevin V. of Rochester NY, and daughter Megan (James) O'Reilly-Enk of Genoa City, WI. His cherished 14 grandchildren; Brieanne E. O'Reilly, Matthew J. O'Reilly, Caitlin B. O'Reilly, Sean E. O'Reilly, Katie M. O'Reilly, Morgen A. Rogers (Aaron), Dylan J. O'Reilly, Daniel P. O'Reilly, Reilly O. Lagerhausen, Bridget M. Campbell (Austyn), Michael C. O'Reilly, Mikaela J. Lagerhausen, Colin P. Lagerhausen and Kyle V. Lagerhausen. He also adored his eight great grandchildren: Mason F. Rogers, Waylon V. Rogers, Hunter T. Hagner, Jameson P. Rogers, Valerie M. Campbell, Scarlett A. Campbell, Gwendolyn I. O'Reilly, and Sonny O'Reilly.

Jim started his career as a research chemist at General Electric Company in Scotia NY. In 1968 he moved to the Xerox Corporation in Webster NY. He spent his later working days at Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester NY. His final work was done with the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. He spent several years as a volunteer driver for Elderberry Express in Pittsford NY. Jim was a big sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, skiing, and college basketball even traveling to 7 NCAA Final Four Tournaments. His skiing adventures took him from the local Ski Valley and Bristol Mountain to the Canadian Rockies and even Germany. He was a devoted Notre Dame football fan attending many home games over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Catholic Relief Services.
