Georgia Bentley Prisbrey, 90, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at her home in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on March 7, 1934, in Parowan, Utah, to Clyde Gillins Bentley and Mary Belle Bulloch.
Georgia spent her early years with her Grandma Bulloch, and her Aunt Jettie, who shaped her upbringing. She attended Cedar High School where she met George Jay Prisbrey, the love of her life. They were married on January 30, 1951, in the St. George Temple, sealing an eternal commitment.
Together, Jay and Georgia were blessed with six children: Chad, Kendall, Kelly, Valerie, Mark, and Shane. Family time was paramount to them, and they created cherished memories riding motorcycles, skiing, camping, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors.
Throughout her career, Georgia worked diligently at various establishments including the Park & Shop, the Bauery, Bennett's Paint & Glass, and State Bank of Southern Utah, where she retired as a respected loan processor.
Georgia was known for her infectious sense of humor, always bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She found solace in books and the art of crochet, and she was a great cook and was known to frequently host family gatherings and holiday parties.
Above all, Georgia found her greatest joy in the company of her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her. Her unconditional love and unwavering support created a lasting legacy of warmth and compassion.
Georgia is preceded in death by her siblings Belva Jane, Rose Luree, Dorothy, John Clyde, Don, and Linda, her daughter Valerie Imlay, her beloved husband Jay Prisbrey, and her grandchildren Jared Prisbrey, Nash Prisbrey, and her great-grandchildren Avery Houston and Benjamin Imlay.
Her memory will be cherished by her surviving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who were touched by her kindness, laughter, and love.
A Celebration of Georgia's Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the Cedar City North Stake Center (95 North 2125 West, Cedar City, Utah). I met Georgia when I was in my twenties, a long time ago, she was a wonderful giving person and loved her family and two dogs more than anyone I´ve ever known. We were best of friends from 1978-1988 when our lives took me in a different direction. I´ll always remember how giving she was of her time and love of everyone and thought all people who had dogs were crazy..Until she got her two from Shane.. She did everything she could possibly do to make them happy. I went through the time with her during her treatment of cancer in 2013 and made her promise never to let Jay cut her hair again.. having moved to St George we were not as close as we used to be. Life´s losses had taken its toll on her and I am saddened to have read that she had passed.. she was a very inspirational woman who proved she could get things done and enjoy life. I loved her so much. Michele McNaught
