BRADENTON – Gerald Francis Barnicle, 78, of Bradenton, FL passed away on September 13, 2024. He was born on November 6, 1945, in Worcester, MA. The son of the late John F. and Catherine Mabel Barnicle. Gerald will be remembered and missed by his wife Gail Lawley, his two sons, Marc Copely (wife Kirsten), Matt and three step-children, David (wife Colleen), Christine Gimber (husband Paul), Peter (wife Diane), as well as six step-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three siblings, Timothy (wife Sue), Stephan (wife Mary Anne), and Mary Beth Rockwell ( husband Rob), along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by brothers Peter and Terrence.
Gerry graduated from St. Peter's High School, Worcester, MA in 1964. He received an Associate Degree in Education from Quinsigamond Community College, his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Worcester State College, and his Masters Degree in Health Education at Bridgewater State College.
After serving for 18 years as the Athletic Director of Holy Name Central Catholic High School, Gerry completed his work in education in the Worcester Public School System as a Special Education Health Teacher and worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester, retiring in 2004. After his retirement, Gerry enjoyed, with his wife Gail, hiking throughout the White Mountains in NH, the mountains in ME, hiking in California and especially the Grand Canyon. He loved to sing with the Worcester Men of Song Barbershop Chorus. He also enjoyed many years of Community Theater in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. Gerry also enjoyed singing with the choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sun City, FL.
