Sturbridge: Patricia M. (Ford) Barnicle, 79, of Ladd Rd., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 30th.
Born in Malden on March 18, 1944, she was the loving daughter of the late Barbara (Brett) Ford. She was raised in Harwich, the older sister to four brothers. Harwich was also where she met David who was her husband for 58 years. Patricia and David raised their family in several communities before settling in Sturbridge. They also owned a home on Martha's Vineyard and enjoyed many special times there with family.
Patricia worked in education all of her life. She taught English, ran summer camps, worked as an Outreach Coordinator at Old Sturbridge Village's Museum Education, and was the Northeast Regional Program Director for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
Volunteering was important to Patricia. She was proud to represent Sturbridge as a member of the Burgess and Tantasqua School Committees for over 16 years. She was a member of the Southbridge Garden Club and enjoyed helping out with programs at the public library.
She had a great love of music, including playing the piano and being a member of several community choirs. Patricia and David were voracious readers who also loved to cook and enjoyed gathering with friends for lively dinner and book clubs. They also enjoyed spending time together in their yard gardening and sitting on their porch listening to music.
Patricia loved nothing more than a big family celebration.
