Gerald Beffa Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 20, 2025.
It is with both heavy hearts and a spirit of celebration that we announce the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Billy Beffa, who entered eternal rest on December 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on December 8, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jerry lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service.

Jerry proudly served as a police officer with the Milwaukee Police Department for 30 years, from 1963 to 1993. In 1973 Jerry received a commendation for his service on the night of February 26, after he and his partner saved two women from drowning in Lake Michigan. His dedication to his community and commitment to public safety were hallmark traits that defined his extensive career. Beyond his law enforcement duties, Jerry demonstrated his patriotic spirit as a member of the National Guard and the Army, serving from 1960 to 1964.

Jerry's legacy is forever intertwined with that of his beloved wife, Janet (nee Brown) Beffa, to whom he was married for a remarkable 64 years. Together, they created a warm home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where love and laughter flourished, before retiring to Waterford, Wisconsin in 1993. Jerry was not only a devoted husband but also a skilled handyman, possessing the remarkable ability to fix anything and everything. His knack for woodworking and car repair became legendary among friends and family, and he took pride in keeping Janet's iron working for over two decades.

A proud member of the American Legion and a Freemason, Jerry's life was enriched by friendships and camaraderie. He was known for his love of simple pleasures, often enjoying a cold, but affordable beer, or crafting his own exquisite wines. His passion for life was evident in all he did, and his ability to find joy in the little things inspired those fortunate enough to know him.

Jerry Beffa is survived by his cherished wife, Janet, beloved children Colleen (Forrest) Wendlick and Daniel (Nancy) Beffa, precious grandchildren Amanda (William) Drzewiecki and Spencer Wendlick, and his sister, Ruth (Donald) Wagner. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends, family, and colleagues. Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Kurt John Beffa, his parents, Theodore and Myrtle (nee Bussert) Beffa, and his brothers Duane, Wayne, and Robert Beffa.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Legion as Jerry was a member of Post 20 in Waterford, Wisconsin.

Jerry lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering service. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
