Gerald William Botkin, born on March 22, 1940, in Adams County, Iowa, passed away on July 31, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Charles William and Elizabeth Cornelia (Mostert) Botkin. Gerald graduated from Prescott High School, Class of 1959. Gerald proudly served his country in the Iowa National Guard from March 10, 1961 to March 9, 1966. He received an Expert Badge with bar for Rifle and a Marksman Badge with bar for automatic Rifle.

Gerald spent most of his life farming in Adams County near Prescott, working on the family farm until he was 53. After the farm was sold to Wayne Wilson, he continued to lend his hand on the land. In later years, he worked for Gummy Bear in Creston, Iowa, until his retirement at age 67. Gerald also served in the National Guard, enlisting in 1958 and being discharged in 1990.

Over the years, Gerald was known to be involved in his community and was a member of the Prescott United Methodist Church. He experienced marriage twice during his life. In 1976, he married Suzi Domoraki, and together they had two children before divorcing in 1990. Later, in 1993, he married Ramona James, with whom he had one daughter, but the couple divorced in 1996.

Gerald is survived by his daughter Natasha (Josue) Nazrala of Ames, Iowa, son Nicholas (Renee) Botkin of Papillion, Nebraska, and daughter Bethany Botkin of Clarinda, Iowa. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Brodee Heistand; Rhea Thompson; Janessa Botkin; Colin Salem of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jack Salem of Papillion, Nebraska. He is also remembered by his sister, Sherry Rodrigues of Kapaa, Hawaii, and sister-in-law Marlene Gilkerson of Knoxville, Iowa, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Botkin; three brothers: Ronald, James, and Kenneth Botkin; his sister, Marjo Brown; brother-in-law, Danny Brown; sister-in-law, Marilyn Botkin; and brother-in-law, Malcolme Rodrigues, Sr.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Corning, Iowa, starting at 2:00 PM. Rev. Jessica Paulsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Stringtown Cemetery, rural Lenox, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
