Jerry E. Brady, age 87, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 at Edward Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 22, 1938 in LaSalle, IL.
Jerry is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 67 years, Carol (nee Martin); his loving children, Scott (Robin) Brady of Knoxville, TN, Sue (Rob) Salness of Naperville, IL, and Shawna (Marc) Nelson of Naperville, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Kelly (Patrick) Moody, Signe (Tim) Luckey, Brin Salness, Bergen (Ariel) Nelson, Kiernan Nelson, Gillen Nelson and Teigen Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Pierce, Dean and Luke Moody, Soren and Hazel Luckey; his dear sister, Jackie (Larry) Mills; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Phillip Brady; his parents, Samuel and Jeanette Brady; his parents-in-law, Anton and Frances Martin; and his siblings-in-law, Charles, Ted, Anton, and Rose.
Jerry was born in La Salle, Illinois and led a Norman Rockwell type of life. He authored a book entitled 7 Wooden Pigeons, detailing his life in LaSalle and his many adventures growing up in the 40's. He attended LaSalle Peru Township High School. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Iowa State University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. He held several engineering and leadership positions, with his final position being Vice President and co-owner of Bliss and Laughlin Steel Company.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him immense joy. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his family and friends at Spring Brook Golf Course. Jerry and his wife Carol traveled the world and spent many years wintering in Naples, Florida. He was quick witted and could take a joke as well as make one.
His outlook on life could be summed up in one of his favorite phrases "That's terrific!!!"
Private Family Services were held.
