Gerald Holbert Cotton

Gerald H. Cotton, Sr., 76, of Waverly, Ohio, passed 11:03 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, peacefully at his home due to a short illness.

Gerald was born October 31, 1949, in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Leonard and Mary Eloise Cotton. On June 12, 1999 he was united in marriage to Rissa A. Cotton, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Gerald H. & Tara Cotton, Jr., William Cotton, and Christopher & Lisa Cotton; two stepchildren, Terry Webb and Andrew Martin; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Larry Cotton; a sister, Vicki Shoemaker; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Gerald was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired armed guard for the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon. He loved deer hunting and going golfing.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Chaplin Paul Girdley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the beginning of the service on Sunday at the funeral home in Waverly.
