Gerald "Gerry" Decoster, age 81, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; son Michael (Beth); daughter Kathleen (Jason); grandchildren Annie, Charlie, Asher, and Averi; and sister Nancy Stano. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Raymond Decoster, and beloved Aunt Madeline Braem.
Gerry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. After earning his pharmacy degree from Wayne State University, he spent his lifelong career serving others with care and dedication. A talented woodworker, he enjoyed many hours crafting beautiful pieces in his workshop. He built decades-long friendships through his passion for muzzleloading, and in retirement, he found joy volunteering at the Detroit Historical Museum and collecting antique pharmacy bottles.
Gerry will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and quiet love of history and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Detroit Historical Museum or Alzheimer's Association.
Visitation Monday 5-8pm with a 7pm funeral at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), Sterling Heights. Private interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions to the Detroit Historical Museum or the Alzheimer's Association are appreciated. Please share memories with the family at their online guestbook at WujekCalcaterra.com
