Gerald Friedgen Obituary

Gerald John Friedgen of Tawas City, formerly a resident of Aurora, Ill., passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Iosco County Medical Care Facility, age 93 years.
Gerald was born in Aurora, Ill. on Sept. 15, 1932 to Theo and Catherine (Meyers) Friedgen. He graduated high school and then proudly went on to serve our country in the United States Air Force from February of 1952 to February of 1956.
Upon his honorable separation from the military, Gerald went to work in the Iron Industry, and had a long career until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his five children, Cheryl (Jim) Widner, Mike (Linda) Friedgen, Gerry (William) Chapman, Pat (Jeff) Krieg and Kathy (Darren) Otto; grandchildren, Dwight (Josette) Varner, Angie (Adam) Petschke, David Friedgen, Mike Friedgen, Paige Fleminger and Curtus Krieg; great grandchildren, Sidney and Cormack Friedgen, Noah Petschke and Knox Iverson.
Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Friedgen, to whom he married on June 6, 1956. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Ted and Kathy Friedgen; and a grandson, Jerry.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will celebrate his life through a tribute gathering at a later date. Those wishing to express their love and support may visit www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
