Gerald "Hodgy" Linn McCombs

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Gerald McCombs, Jr., affectionately known as "Hodgy," who passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, in Bonne Terre, MO. Born on Friday, August 25, 1961, Gerald brought laughter, warmth, and a touch of adventure to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Linn McCombs, Sr.

Hodgy is survived by his mother, Barbara Joan (McClain) McCombs; one daughter, Melanie Joan Martinez and husband Jaime; one brother, Robert Wayne McCombs and wife Angie, one sister, Nicky Black and husband Dustin Sales; two nieces, Kelsie Black, and Kiley Kennon and husband Jake; nephew, Ryan Miller and great nephew, Harrison Black; one special Uncle Austin McClain; and dear friend Misty Seals

Hodgy had a creative spirit that was reflected not only in his work but also in his many passions. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, often cheering for his team with infectious enthusiasm. His love for wrestling, classic rock music, and timeless television shows added joy and entertainment to his life, while his appreciation for spooky movies and captivating westerns made for memorable evenings with friends and family.

 Gerald's nickname, "Hodgy," was affectionately inspired by his fondness for the character in Johnny Quest, a name that reflected his vibrant personality and distinct charm. He was not only a dedicated brother but also an amazing friend, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to share in his journey.

 In honor of Hodgys life, a visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service of 1:00 P.M. with Chaplain Jerry Keeton officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Hillcrest Cemetery in Bonne Terre. in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses, or direct to the American Cancer Society in Hodgy’s memory. 

As we bid farewell to our dear Hodgy, we find comfort in the knowledge that his light will continue to shine in our hearts, inspiring us to celebrate each day with the same passion and enthusiasm he embodied. Let us embrace his legacy and carry forward the laughter and love he so generously shared.
