Peggy "Patsy" Dorough McCombs, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 85. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Columbiana. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM. Dr. Mike Miller is officiating and Bolton Funeral Home is directing. She will be laid to rest in Pinelawn Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patsy's memory to First Baptist Church of Columbiana. Born on June 1, 1940, in Columbiana, Alabama, Patsy's life was a testament to her deep love for her family and her community. Patsy was a proud graduate of Shelby County High School and went on to earn her degree in education from the University of Montevallo. She began her career as a dedicated teacher in the Shelby County School system, where she shared her passion for learning with countless students. However, she later chose to leave her profession to devote herself full-time to her greatest role: raising her two daughters, Shelly and Charlon. Throughout her life, Patsy was an active and cherished member of her community. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Columbiana, where her strong faith was a source of strength and comfort. Her commitment to her daughters' education led her to serve as President of the PTO, and she was also a valued member of the Novella Club. Patsy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles "Papa" McCombs; her parents, Leon Felmon Dorough and Louise Cosper Dorough; and her siblings, Felmon Leon "Sonny" Dorough, Betty Bird, and Mary Ann Thompson. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Shelly McCombs Wade (Dennis Wade) and Charlon McCombs Couch (Frank Couch). Her legacy lives on through her six cherished grandchildren: Regan Merrell Wade, Connor Charles Wade (Eileen Wade), Callie Brooke Wade, Anna Morgan Crawford (Chandler Crawford), Adison Andrew Couch, and Alexa Elizabeth Couch. Patsy was blessed with her first great-grandchild, Clark Charles Wade. She is also survived by her brother, Michael C. Dorough (Linda Dorough); her sister, Nancy Moore; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Patsy's dedicated caregivers, as well as her extended family and friends who provided love, comfort, and companionship during her later years.
