Hoerauf, Gerald J. “Jerry”. Bay City, Michigan born on November 20, 1934 passed away on December 8, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 91. The son of the late Herman and Johanna (Reichard) Hoerauf. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust where he served as a trustee for many years. Jerry played baseball for T.L. Handy High School and also graduated there in 1952 and went on to coach boy’s baseball for several years at St. Paul. He loved hunting deer and pheasants and loved playing golf. After retiring from Hoerauf & Sons Farm Produce, he spent twenty winters in Yuma, AZ.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his daughter, Lori (Jerome) Urbaniak; brother, Thomas (Nancy) Hoerauf; sister, Bonnie List; brother-in-law’s, Frank Wozniak and Harvey Rugenstein; sister-in-law, Marjorie Knoerr and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years, Janet (Knoerr) Hoerauf; son, Terry G. Hoerauf on January 5, 1980; brother, Charles Hoerauf; sister, Carol Wozniak; brother-in-law’s, Erwin (Elvira) Hoerauf, Howard (Marie) Knoerr, Larry Knoerr, Eugene (Bonnie) Rugenstein and William List, and sister-in-law’s, Darlene Rugenstein.
Funeral service for Jerry will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust with interment to follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Matyas. The family will be present to receive visitors on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Gephart Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In Lieu of flower, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Ministry Center or a charity of your choice.
