Gerald "Jake" Jacquin passed away on March 10, 2026 surrounded by his loving family at his home in
Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three. He was born December 31, 1942, in
St. Louis, Missouri to August Julius and Amelia Mary (Maasen) Jacquin.
Jake was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He attended St. Louis University where he graduated with a degree in Education. He later obtained a master's degree plus 30. For 34 years, he was a high school English teacher with most of those years at Wentzville Holt High School. His passion for teaching went beyond teaching proper grammar and punctuation. He taught his students not what to think but how to think. He was well-liked and respected by his students and took great pride in helping them succeed. During these years, he raised his 3 children, Jeremy Auguste Jacquin, Tara Ren Jacquin-Tisch, and Ashley Anne Jacquin with their mother Linda Ann (Reiker) Jacquin.
After retiring from teaching, he lived his dream and spent 20 years as a cattle rancher in
Falcon, MO with his wife Susie (Mary Sue (Strake) Shelton). Jake and Susie were united in marriage in 2001 and spent twenty-four years sharing all the things they loved including spending time with family and friends and caring for their cattle and horses (although they disagreed on what kinds they should have) on their 764-acre ranch. He also enjoyed caring for their pets, especially their dogs Clancy and Zander, spending time outdoors, traveling out West (especially to Colorado), a good working knife with a sharp blade, a well-fitting cowboy hat, and a comfortable vest.
Jake is survived by his wife, Mary Sue "Susie" (Strake) Shelton; his children Jeremy Auguste Jacquin and his wife Kari, Tara Ren Jacquin-Tisch and her husband John, and Ashley Anne Jacquin and her husband Julian Powers; one step-son, John Shelton and his wife Maggie; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Oliver, Gavin, Everett, Hunter, Hadyn, Alexandra, Ayden, Raeann, and Jaxson; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Jacquin and his wife Mary and Donna Clarke; other relatives and many friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
Instead of a public service, Jake requested that his family travel together to Rocky Mountain National Park to spread his ashes. (Don't worry. We will get the permit.)
