Gerald Klug
December 6, 1948 - August 31, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Klug, a devoted father, grandfather, and proud Vietnam combat veteran who touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born the youngest of four brothers and a first-generation American, Gerald embodied the values of hard work and determination that defined his family's immigrant story. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army's 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, carrying the values of service and dedication throughout his life. He was known for his strong work ethic, never taking shortcuts in anything he pursued, and approaching every task with integrity and determination.
Gerald is survived by his two sons, Matt (Jess) Klug and Kevin (Holly) Klug, and four beloved grandchildren: Camden and Jaxen (Matt's children), and Reagan and Max (Kevin's children). He took great pride in his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
A man of simple pleasures, Gerald found joy in fishing, particularly his treasured trips to Canada where he could cast his line in peaceful waters. He was a loyal fan of Chicago sports, faithfully following both the Bears and the Cubs through victories and defeats alike. When he wasn't cheering on his teams, he could often be found relaxing in Clearwater, Florida, enjoying the warmth and tranquility of his favorite getaway.
Gerald's legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, who will remember him for his unwavering work ethic, his love of family, and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, located at 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg, Illinois. A ceremonial honor guard will take place at 4:30 PM to honor Gerald's military service.
