Gerald Wayne Lackey, 84, of Erie, IL, passed away, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his home in Erie, Illinois. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Muscatine, IA. Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie, is assisting the family.
He was born December 23, 1940, in Newport, Arkansas to Otho Oxford and Lydia O'Delia (Pippenger) Lackey. Gerald was united in marriage on May 9, 1964, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Joan Marie Wieskamp. He worked as a machinist at Red Jacket Pumps.
Gerald enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye sports, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was especially proud of being a great-grandfather.
Gerald is survived by his sons Ronald (Kim) of Muscatine, Kyle (Leslie) of Erie, and Daniel (Andrea) of Trabuco Canyon, California; grandchildren Zachary Boots, Lakota Lackey, Chloee Lackey, Jasmin Adams, Dessi Adams, Morgan Adams, Laura Gibson, Jake Franzen, Taylor Franzen, Lauren Lackey, and Jett Lackey; three great-grandchildren Fox Cole, Levicy Cole, and Malachi Adams; and sister Brenda Presley of Mobile, Alabama.
