Gerald Ray Laney

Gerald Ray Laney, 63, of Concord, NC passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family after a short battle of cancer.

Gerald was born on August 14, 1962, in Charlotte, NC to the late George B. Laney and Mildred P. Laney. He was employed by the Landscape Management Department of the City of Charlotte for 19 years, then later he was employed with Blythe Construction. He was a hardworking man, who enjoyed operating heavy equipment. He had a great personality and sense of humor. He enjoyed playing pool, listening to music, watching western shows and movies, and had a deep love for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He was a wonderful single father, and one of his many joys was watching his daughter play softball and his grandson play football. On December 7, 2025, he made a very honorable choice of accepting Christ as his Savior and was saved. He will forever be missed and loved. Rest easy Daddy.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Laney. He is survived by his mother Mildred Laney; daughter, Denise Laney; grandson, Jeremiah Keene; sister, Sherrie Harmon (Rick); nephew, Jason Harmon; great-nieces, Kiley Harmon and Raelyn Harmon.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 2:00 PM- 2:45 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Bright Light Baptist Church (960 Old Charlotte Road SW, Concord, NC 28027).

A memorial service to celebrate Gerald's life will be held at 3:00 PM at Bright Light Baptist Church in Concord.
