Gerald Little

Gerald R. Little, 96, of Clever, MO, passed away on July 30, 2025. He was born on April 07, 1929, to Emery and Emma (Williams) Little in Clever. He was one of four children in the home.

He graduated from Clever High School with the class of 1947. That same year, on August 22, he married the love of his life, Jaqueline Pope. This union was blessed with one daughter, Diana. Gerald drove a propane truck for Wampler Propane for a little over 10 years. Gerald began farming, mostly cattle, and he continued until he was in his early 90s. He also enjoyed gardening and was well known for his strawberry patches, his black diamond watermelon, and his cantaloupes. There was often a family competition to see who could grow the sweetest and largest melons. Jackie and Gerald enjoyed taking trips to Downstream Casino as well as yearly trips to Las Vegas. Gerald loved playing Blackjack and was rather good at it. He also enjoyed fishing with his nephew, Junior Cox, keeping the family well stocked in fresh fish. He also had a special hidden patch of Morel mushrooms. Gerald never missed a Clever High School basketball home game with Buddy Hays, or a yearly trip up to St. Louis to catch a Cardinals game. Gerald was affectionately referred to as a "cat whisperer". He would take in any stray, feral, homeless cat that wandered into the yard. He loved his family, spending time with them and those amazing Sunday family dinners that Jackie would prepare. Both Jackie and Gerald were lifetime members of Clever Methodist Church. Gerald's family would like to thank the staff at both Birch Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center and Integrity Hospice for all the loving and compassionate care they provided.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Diana, his sisters Velma Cox and Lucille Derrough, and his brother, Kenneth Little.

He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, who shared (just shy of) 78 wonderful years together, granddaughters Richelle Harris and Sara Sullivan, great-grandchildren Jasmin, Aiden, Haley, and Tyler, two great-great-grandchildren Hayden and Beau, as well as many special nieces, nephews, and other extended family and countless friends.

As per Gerald's final wishes, he will be cremated and buried at a later date in Pope Cemetery.
