Gerald E. Mayfield

Gerald E. Mayfield, a man of dedication and passion, passed away on March 31, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 84. Born in Livermore, Kentucky, on March 5, 1941, Gerald lived a life rich in experiences and full of love for his family and friends.
Gerald was a master watchmaker, dedicating 35 years of his career to the jewelry industry where his precision and craftsmanship were renowned. Even after retiring from his cherished profession, he remained active by selling insurance, a testament to his tireless work ethic and desire to stay engaged.
His interests were as diverse as they were fulfilling. Gerald found joy in woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his meticulous attention to detail. He loved the serenity of the open water and spent many cherished moments boating. Together with his beloved wife, Doris, he enjoyed traveling and RV'ing, exploring new places and creating lasting memories.
His skills extended beyond his professional life; as an accomplished archer, he proudly held the Kentucky State Championship title in archery for two consecutive years, 1968 and 1969.
Gerald is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Acherson, her husband, Bob Acherson, his daughter, Michelle Williamson, and his brother, Freddie Mayfield. He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 63 years, Doris J. Mayfield; his son, Gerald E. "Geno" Mayfield, Jr., and his wife Brenda; grandchildren Brandon Mayfield and his wife Tracy, Rebecca Williamson, and great-granddaughter Lexi Williamson. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Chuck Williamson.
Gerald's legacy is one of devotion, skill, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew him.
While services are not planned at this time, those who wish to honor Gerald's memory can do so by reflecting on the love and joy he brought into their lives. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
