Gerald Junior McDaniel, Sr., age of 88, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Born on March 23, 1936, in Mill City, Oregon, Gerald lived a life dedicated to his family and the community he served.
Gerald's career in welding trailer frames exemplified his strong work ethic and commitment to craftsmanship. He was not just a skilled tradesman; he also made a lasting impact on many through his love of sports, teaching baseball and softball to generations of young athletes.
Possessing a love for fishing, Gerald embraced the joy that time spent outdoors brought him.
Beyond his personal pursuits, Gerald's leadership contributed significantly to the Colcord community. He proudly served as Mayor of Colcord on two occasions and dedicated 13 years of his life to serving on the city council. His commitment to his community and its residents was unwavering, and his contributions will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
Gerald's legacy continues through the loving family he leaves behind his children, Gerald McDaniel, Jr., James McDaniel, Jerry McDaniel, and Sherry Henderson; his brother, James "Cecil" McDaniel; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry McDaniel and Hazel Rhoda (Ford) McDaniel; his wife Sharon (Sharp) McDaniel; his daughter, Phyllis Stafford; and two sisters, Arlene Pendergrass and Wilma Vanfleet.
Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate his life and share their stories with a visitation starting at 12:00 Noon, and funeral services starting at 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Colcord Community Building, located at 433 S Larmon St, Colcord, OK 74338. Gerald will be laid to rest in Row Cemetery.
Gerald Junior McDaniel, Sr. will be remembered as a devoted family man and a steadfast pillar of his community, leaving behind a legacy of love, leadership, and cherished memories.
