Gerald Moorman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Oct. 8, 2024.
Gerald (Jerry) Moorman Sr.
July 3, 1961 – October 3, 2024
Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Moorman Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2024, at Washington Hospital Center, at the age of 63. Born in Washington, D.C., on July 3, 1961, Jerry grew up in Suitland, Maryland, and attended Potomac High School.
Jerry met the love of his life, Rose, while cruising around Waldorf, a favorite pastime with his brothers, Mike and Gary. Jerry and Rose were married on March 19, 1980. Together, they raised four children: Gerald Moorman Jr., Gregory Moorman, Jessica Moorman, and Christopher Moorman, sharing a deep bond built on love and laughter. Jerry passed on his passion for cars to his children at an early age, and Sunday drives became a cherished family tradition.
A dedicated Mopar enthusiast since his teenage years, Jerry could often be found working on his cars, a hobby that brought him immense joy. His knowledge and love for all things automotive were well known among family and friends. Yet, for Jerry, nothing was more important than his family. He treasured time spent with his loved ones, especially at home, where he created a warm and welcoming environment for all.
Jerry never turned away someone in need. Over the years, he opened his home to family and friends, extending his kindness and generosity to everyone he encountered.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Moorman; his children: Gerald Moorman Jr. (Megan), Gregory Moorman, Jessica Moorman, and Christopher Moorman; his father, Robert Moorman; his brothers: Michael Moorman and Gary Moorman (Lisa); and his cousin, Richard Taylor. He is also survived by his nephews: Mikey, James, Andrew, Sean, and Matthew (Taylor); his niece, Holly; and great-niece and great-nephews: Layla, Elijah, Mikey, Bryson, Amanda, Jackson, and Anthony. In addition, Jerry leaves behind his cherished six grandchildren: Cheyanna, Joshua, Kaylee, Emily, Jade, and Sophia; all of whom were brightened by his love and presence. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Ronnie Moorman, with whom he shared a close bond, as well as his grandparents, John and Margaret Moorman, and his niece, Heather.
His family will always remember him as a loving, hardworking man who prioritized the happiness of those closest to him. Jerry had a gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on October 15th at Raymond Funeral Home in La Plata, MD. Private family visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by an open visitation for extended family and friends at 10:00 a.m. Memorial services will be held immediately afterward. Burial will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m.
