Gerald Namey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Jan. 27, 2026.
Gerald "Jerry" Namey, age 70, passed away on January 24, 2026, after a brief illness. Jerry was a devoted family man, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a natural way of making people feel welcome-always ready with a joke, a story, or a smile.

Jerry was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on May 12, 1955, the son of the late Dr. Joseph J. Namey and Geraldine A. (Roccapalumbo) Namey. He attended Millcreek Schools and graduated from McDowell Senior High School in 1974.

A longtime business owner in the Millcreek community, Jerry operated Tobaccoland, Nature's Den, and Heritage Wine and Tobacco at the Millcreek Mall, where he built meaningful, lasting relationships and became well known to many.

Jerry is survived by his longtime love, Michelle Samson; his daughter, Michelle Kuilman, and her husband, Jason; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Sornberger, and her husband, Steven; and his stepson, Alec Samson. He was a proud grandfather to Jackson, Anna, Samantha, and Steven, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Dr. Joseph Namey and his wife, Maria, of Florida, and Dr. Samuel Namey and his wife, Gail, of Erie; and his sister, Theresa, and her husband, Dr. Robert Yochim, of Michigan. He is lovingly remembered by his aunt and godmother, Annie Kominiarek, and her husband, Dr. Robert Kominiarek, along with many nieces and nephews whom he adored.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed boating and had a deep love for animals. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the laughter he so easily shared.

Friends may call on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. and may attend a service there on Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
