Pauline Louise Hicks

Pauline L. Fischbach Hicks, September 14, 1940 – February 20, 2026

"Polly" was born and grew up in Tacoma, WA. She then met her husband, Will, at a dance neither wanted to attend, fell in love, and married on New Year's Eve of 1959. Polly then moved to Olympia, WA to begin a new life with her husband. After four years in Olympia a job opportunity for Will took them to Shelton, WA where they lived and raised their two children, Julie and Scott. Polly worked for J.C. Penney, a photo studio, and was very active in the community and her church. She also loved to tent camp and hike.

After 20 years in Shelton, a job change for Will took them to Auburn, WA where Polly worked for an adoption agency; work that she very much enjoyed. Then guess what? Kids moved away to begin their lives, Polly and Will became grandparents without much opportunity to be with family. So, another guess what? Let's follow the kids! The spring of 1990 became moving time. Husband Will drove a U-Haul towing a trailer and Polly drove the family car with her mom along for company. Four and a half days later, they arrived in Erie and their new home.

A short time after arrival in Erie, Polly went to work for the Lake Shore Visitor, a popular Catholic news magazine. After retirement, Polly and Will were able to continue with camping and many road trips; one of which circled the entire U.S. Through her life Polly has been a happy loving person, a wonderful wife and mother, a great cook, and "almost" always willing to try something new. She will be sorely missed by her husband, two children, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Barnabas Chapel at Brevillier Village.
