Gerald Arthur "Jerry" "Jerry" Nugent

A Evansville Indiana resident, Mr. Gerald Arthur "Jerry" Nugent, age 80, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at Cypress Grove Nursing & Rehab in Newburg, Indiana. He was born March 10, 1945, in New Jersey to the late Charles and Lidie Megill Nugent.

Jerry grew up in Louisville and served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War, receiving two purple hearts. After his service, Jerry was an employee General Electric in Louisville where he worked in the dryer evaluation lab. Jerry then decided to go to work at CSX Railroad where he worked for 33 years as a conductor out of Evansville Indiana. He was past president of the U.T.U 904 for 14 years. One of Jerry's hobbies was woodworking and refinishing furniture. Jerry was of the Methodist faith

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Yates Nugent, one son, Dr. Nicholas J. (Sarah) Nugent of Mississippi, one sister, Pat (Joe) Livingston of Florida, one grandson, Jackson Nugent, a brother and sister-in-law, Orien (Lorna) Yates of Shepherdsville, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Gerald Arthur "Jerry" Nugent will be at 1:00 pm Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Bro. Doug Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will be after 11:00 am Friday until the time of the service. The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
