Gerald D. "Jerry" Pinckard, age 93, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025.
Cherished husband of nearly 63 years of Judy (nee Mann); beloved father of Stephanie Seabeck (Chris); devoted grandfather of Ryan (Lauren Ledzianowski) and Evan (Lisa Helland); and loving uncle of Kitty Hart, Laura Ruppert and Tim Pinckard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alberta (nee Ayres) Pinckard, Sr.; and his brother, Frank, Jr. and twin brother, Tom.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army and graduate of Ohio's Miami University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics. He spent his career working in sales for the Thilmany Papers, retiring after nearly 40 years with the company.
He was a man of great faith and generosity and poured that faith into action as an active and dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Hudson, where he served in many capacities over the years, including the Missions Board, Deacon, Adult and Youth Education, and Stewardship.
Jerry enjoyed playing tennis, and he and his wife, Judy could often be found on the courts together at various clubs in the areas where they lived. He also loved being on the slopes as a skier!
He was also a man who was gifted with his hands. Woodworking was a favorite pastime of his and he could craft everything from furniture to clocks, as well as lovingly framing Judy's own works of art! He truly let his own craftsmanship and artistic skills show in the works he created with stained glass. He could craft anything from lamps and windows, some inspired by his wife's paintings, to custom pieces for raffles and others given as gifts. Jerry was also an avid reader and loved the challenge of crossword puzzles, including the ones in the New York Times.
Jerry's greatest contributions were not in the things he made, however, but in the way he impacted those around him. His dry sense of humor brought laughter wherever he went and he never met a stranger, for anyone he met soon became a friend. His loving and kind manner made you feel always welcome and that you truly mattered to him, and he never forgot a name.
Where Jerry really shone, however, was with his family. He and his wife, Judy, were deeply devoted to one another and when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's several years ago, they faced the challenges together, lifting each other up and supporting each other in every way. When they welcomed first a daughter, Stephanie, later then two grandsons into their family, Jerry's love and devotion expanded to encompass them all. It wasn't limited by birth either, as Jerry was only too happy to add a loved and respected son-in-law and then his grandsons' girlfriends, whom he adored, into the family fold as well, until his family was complete.
He created beauty not only with his hands, but even more importantly with his heart, and it is that that will be missed by all who knew him most of all.
