William Merchant Obituary
JR's life had many facets: Family, careers and many, many friends.
JR spent a great deal of time with his immediate family and always made an effort to enjoy his extended family. He was fortunate to travel extensively, including many states in the US as well as several foreign countries.
He was a jack of all trades and not surprisingly, master of many. He was a law enforcement officer for several local agencies. JR worked for a local ski resort where he was head of maintenance and later appointed general manager. He worked as a government contractor providing security personnel and equipment logistics for American Embassies in South America. His last career opportunity was as a consultant for a large local security firm.
JR's main comfort zone was when he was engaged with his two sons or his large circle of friends. He attended many race car events, supported local entertainment venues and traveled to visit friends outside of the Cleveland area. He was always available to lend a helping hand, a sympathetic ear or a realistic opinion.
A Celebration of Life will be announced shortly.
JR was a committed first responder for police, fire, and EMS. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in JR's name (William P. Merchant JR) to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org).
