Gerald Dwayne"Jerry" Ricke, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away on April 10, 2025 at the age of 76.
Jerry was born the son of Sylvester and Clara (Ternes) Ricke on September 9, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas.
Jerry will always be remembered as a beacon of kindness and camaraderie in the heart of Wellington, Kansas. Jerry, who was a dedicated machinist with PreMac/GKN in the aircraft industry, was known not just for his professional skills, but also for his ability to brighten up any room with his infectious positivity and genuine care for others. He wore many hats in his life, a loving brother, a devoted uncle, an enthusiastic coach, and a committed employee. But above all, Jerry was a friend to all he encountered.
Jerry's zest for life was evident in his hobbies. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and he enjoyed spending his time at the casino with his inseparable twin brother, Harry. Their brotherly bond was an exemplary symbol of dedication and love, a bond that was only paused when Harry served in the armed forces. Jerry also had a deep affection for the younger generation, coaching the Lions Club youth baseball team for many years and spending quality time with his nieces and nephews, whom he adored immensely. A graduate of the Class of 1967, Jerry was also a Duke candidate, adding yet another feather to his cap along with the Wellington city golf championship in 2008.
Survivors include his siblings: Harry (Vickie) Ricke; Chuck (Mary) Ricke; Mary (Dennis) Johnson; Dick Ricke; Teresa (Alan) Bertrand; Tim (Wendy) Ricke; Norman (Todd) Ricke; Ralph (Paul) Ricke; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Clara Ricke; and nephews, Matt Bertrand and Adam Ricke.
A visitation for Jerry will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas, 67152.
Memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the St Anthony & St Rose Catholic Church, 210 North B Street, Wellington, KS. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington, KS.
Memorial contributions can be given in his name and memory to the Wellington Golf Association, 1500 W. Harvey Ave., Wellington, KS 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
