Bob Gene Brownlee passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025 in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 94. Born on June 30, 1931 to Claude V. and Vera Grace (Winchell) Brownlee, Bob spent his life in the Wellington community. He was a dedicated, generous, humble, and loving person that was held in high regard by those that knew him.
As a young boy, Bob enjoyed working on the family farm and continued farming for nearly all his life. Out of the fields, Bob had a career as an Equipment Operator in the City of Wellington. He was best known for his dedicated service to the City of Wellington's Street Department, a commitment that spanned 41 impressive years before his well-earned retirement. Bob was more than just a hard worker; he was also an avid enthusiast of the simpler things in life. As a devoted supporter of Wellington Crusader Football, a fan of John Wayne and Westerns, and a collector of John Deere, he found joy in his hobbies and pastimes. While not exactly a pastime, he was just as devoted to watching his favorite shows: The Price is Right in the morning and The Three Stooges on Saturdays. Bob and his beloved wife, Beth, were married on August 30, 1980, treasuring over 45 years of companionship. Together, they enjoyed taking bus trips with the Wellington Senior Center. Bob's family, church, and notably his grandchildren, were of the utmost importance to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Beth Brownlee; children, Roger (Brenda) Brownlee, Kim (Sandy) Brownlee, Joyce (Kendall) Utt, Glenda Day, George (Tammie) Rayl and John (Pam) Rayl; numerous grandchildren: Mark, Mandy, Dalton, Jazmine, Jessie, Elizabeth, Devin, Justin, Adam, Brandon, Taylor, Justin, Joe, Cody, Tyler, Denise, Tonya, Brandi, Brian, Crystal, Alicia, and Kristin; thirty six great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; sons, David and Thornton; grandsons, Matthew and Zack and a great-grandson, Blake.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Graveside services for Bob will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas. Minister Wes Leflore will officiate.
We sincerely invite all who knew Bob to share a memory, leave condolences, or sign his digital tribute wall at www.cornejofuneralhome.com.
